Beginning in 1917 and continuing today, Hobart Brothers Company and our ever-advancing world are tightly linked. This milestone reflects a history rich in product innovation and determination that has driven the company’s success since it was incorporated by founder C.C. Hobart, his wife and three sons on March 24, 1917.
Today, the company is best known for formulating and manufacturing filler metals for the welding industry. Until 1996, Hobart Brothers Company was family owned and operated, then it was acquired by Illinois Tool Works (ITW).
Hobart Brothers products like battery chargers and air compressors ushered in the dawn of the automotive age. During the critical years of World War II, Hobart arc welders and generators helped our troops defend the American way of life. Today, Hobart filler metals and related consumables help create everything from ships to skyscrapers. Our innovations tie this world’s critical structures, like giant suspension bridges — and bind space-exploration tools that search for new worlds.
